Tax authorities have calculated the number of self-employed Russians

OREANDA-NEWS At the beginning of last month, 17.4 million self-employed people were counted in Russia. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a presentation by Daniil Egorov, head of the Federal Tax Service.
Of this number, 9.5 million people received income last year. At the same time, 6.5 million combined self-employment with labor relations, and 4.4 million earned exclusively as self-employed.
According to the head of the Federal Tax Service, the number of officially employed citizens has increased in Russia. In four years, the corresponding figure has increased by 1.3 million.
In the second quarter of 2026, more than 15 million citizens were involved in the informal sector of the Russian economy. This is the maximum result for such a period over the past seven years.
According to the results of January-May 2026, the share of Russian citizens working outside the state amounted to 41 percent of the total number of people employed in the country.
