OREANDA-NEWS The bulk of the fuel oil that got into the water from the Volgoneft-239 tanker was collected from the Black Sea. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Kuban operations center.
The release of petroleum products from the stern of the ship, which is stranded near the port of Taman in the Temryuk district, became known on Friday, January 10. Booms were installed to contain the contamination, and a technical road was built at the spill site.
To eliminate the consequences of the accident, the specialists of the Maritime Rescue Service manually removed small strips of fuel oil from the shore using shovels and bags. "The bulk of the fuel oil was collected by an excavator as the road was being laid. Now the remaining fragments are being taken out of the water," the operational staff said.
Earlier, a commission appeared in Russia to eliminate the consequences of the oil spill after the tanker crash in the Kerch Strait. She will be engaged in the restoration of the ecosystem of the Black Sea coast, Krasnodar Territory and Crimea.
