OREANDA-NEWS  Preliminary damage caused by forest fires in Yakutia was estimated at more than 347 million rubles. This was told by the head of the Department of fire extinguishing and emergency rescue Operations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the region, Alexander Fedorov.

"Calculations are still underway, after the completion of investigations, this figure may increase. The investigators of the GPN bodies are checking all reports of forest fires," the representative of the department said.

Since the beginning of the fire season, 879 landscape fires have been recorded on the territory of the republic on an area of more than a million hectares. Against this background, an interregional emergency regime was introduced in Yakutia and the Khabarovsk Territory, which was canceled on August 25.
