OREANDA-NEWS  The Court of General Jurisdiction of the European Union (EU) has lifted sanctions against former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his son Alexander. This is reported by Euronews.

According to the court, the EU Council made a mistake with the addition of Yanukovych to the sanctions list in 2021, because at that time there was no confirmation that the verdict of the Ukrainian court on high treason was fair.

The lawyers of the former president defended the position that the verdict was unfair and politically motivated, and the accused politician had no opportunity to appeal the corruption suspicion.
