OREANDA-NEWS Finland intends to expel nine people who worked at the Russian embassy from the country, the country's cabinet announced on June 6.

This decision was made within the framework of a joint meeting of the President of Finland and the Committee on Foreign and Security Policy of the Government of the country.

The Finnish authorities have accused Russian diplomats of intelligence activities.

On May 17, the Finnish Foreign Ministry announced the freezing of bank accounts of the country's representative offices in Russia. Later, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed restrictions on the use of bank accounts of the Embassy and Consulate General of Finland in the Russian Federation. The restrictions were a response to the measures of the Finnish side concerning the freezing of Russian assets in the country.

After that, Finland accused the Russian side of violating the Vienna Convention due to the freezing of accounts.
