The Foreign Ministry has announced the appointment of a new US ambassador to Russia

OREANDA-NEWS Moscow is dramatizing the situation with the appointment of a new US ambassador to Russia, as this is an internal matter for Americans. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"The plot with the new American ambassador is more likely to relate not to the field of bilateral relations, but to the overall personnel picture in the United States," the diplomat noted.
Zakharova added that due to various twists and turns in US domestic politics, 59 percent of the posts of American ambassadors remain vacant. This number includes the position of Ambassador to Russia.
She also quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who said that this was the decision of the American side. Any State has the right to determine for itself the level of diplomatic presence in other countries.
Earlier, Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation, called civil diplomacy the key to restoring relations between Moscow and Washington.
