OREANDA-NEWS  Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that Russia abolished the visa regime for Georgian citizens. She called Moscow's decision a provocation and declared the unacceptability of such steps on the part of the Russian authorities.

"Another Russian provocation!" the politician wrote on Twitter.

In her opinion, the resumption of direct flights and the cancellation of the visa regime with Georgia is unacceptable as long as Russia continues its special operation in Ukraine.

Zurabishvili has previously stated that she opposes the resumption of flights to Russia. At the same time, the chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream — Democratic Georgia party, Irakli Kobakhidze, welcomed the possibility of resuming direct flights.

After that, the representative of the Foreign Policy Service of the European Union, Peter Stano, threatened Georgia with consequences in the event of such a resumption of air traffic.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Russian airlines will operate seven direct flights weekly from Moscow to Tbilisi and back.
