OREANDA-NEWS The Cabinet of Ministers of Russia has approved a new strategy for the development of the pharmaceutical industry, thanks to which the production of modern in-demand medicines will be increased. This was announced on June 19 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"The strategy is primarily aimed at increasing the production of high—quality, effective and safe medicines in Russia in order to provide people and the entire healthcare system with them," the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said at a meeting with government members.

According to Mishustin, it is currently very important to support our own production of full—cycle drugs - their market share should be increased to almost 70% in the next eight years.

As Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova added, government support measures will be provided to fully localized pharmaceuticals in Russia. Currently, their production is carried out in all key segments of the pharmaceutical market, but by 2030, their production, the politician noted, should double.

"Due to the development of domestic production, 62% of all medicines consumed in the country are produced on the territory of the Russian Federation," Golikova said at the meeting.
