OREANDA-NEWS  The impact of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies on the Russian labor market is limited, and we should not expect a sharp increase in the unemployment rate in the long term. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (Ministry of Labor) of the Russian Federation Anton Kotyakov, his words are quoted by the newspaper Vedomosti.

Taking into account the specifics of the domestic labor market, the minister explained, AI can help in performing 7.5 percent of professional tasks. This is an average estimate, Kotyakov noted.

A lot depends on the specifics of a particular specialty, the head of the department added. For some employees, the replacement of functions may be minimal, for others — about 20 percent, for others — 80 percent. The impact of technology is clearly visible in the trade sector. With the development of digitalization of processes, tents, for example, have become a thing of the past. The influence of AI will be felt in other areas, stated Kotyakov.

Earlier, Konstantin Abramov, the head of VTsIOM, announced a gradual change in the employment structure in Russia against the background of the development of AI technologies. At the same time, such processes, he stressed, do not displace people from the labor market. The need for qualified specialists remains high. This includes engineers and technical workers, concluded the head of the fund.
