OREANDA-NEWS FSB officers prevented a terrorist attack by setting fire to a railway crane in the Far North of Russia. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Department of the Tyumen region.

The man was going to disable a railway transport facility in Novy Urengoy, the "gas" capital of the country. According to the FSB, he acted intentionally as part of a group of individuals by prior agreement. The terrorist attack was aimed at destabilizing the activities of the authorities.

The man was detained, and a criminal case was opened against him under the article on attempted terrorist act. He faces imprisonment for up to 20 years. The FSB identifies his accomplices and involvement in other similar episodes.

Earlier, a resident of Yevpatoria was arrested in Crimea on suspicion of treason.
