OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia will not allow the development of a situation in which the disappearance of classic retail in any localities is possible, the task is to preserve the physical access of Russians to food, said Maxim Borovoy, deputy head of the ministry.

"What is food security? This is not only the level of self-sufficiency for the basic products that we have. This includes ensuring the physical availability of food. At the moment, we cannot in any way allow a situation to develop in which we will not have classic retail in some localities," he said at the Prodexpo-2026 plenary session.

Borovoy noted that the preservation of classical retail is a fundamental task for the department.
