OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that an emergency descent of an aviation munition occurred over the settlement of Petropavlovsk in the Voronezh region.
"On January 2, 2024, at about 9:00 Moscow time, during the flight of an aircraft of the Aerospace Forces over the settlement of Petropavlovsk in the Voronezh Region, an abnormal descent of an aviation munition occurred. There are no casualties," the ministry said on Tuesday.
According to the military, an investigation is underway into the circumstances of the incident. A commission is working on site to assess the nature of the damage and assist in the restoration of houses.
According to the Governor of the Voronezh Region, Alexander Gusev, the evacuation of local residents has begun.
"Residents of several streets of the Petropavlovsk settlement are being transported to temporary accommodation facilities, including a boarding house in Korotoyak," he wrote in his telegram channel on Tuesday.
The head of the region noted that after ensuring safety at the scene and the end of the work of special departments, an assessment of the damage will begin.
