OREANDA-NEWS  Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation are monitoring the safety of minors on water bodies in an enhanced mode, the press service of the Ministry reported on Tuesday.

"The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation has strengthened control over safety at water bodies," the message says. It is noted that the department's employees identify unaccompanied minors on a daily basis.

"Since the beginning of the summer, the department's specialists have conducted almost one hundred thousand raids on beaches and other places of recreation near the water. At the same time, more than 6,7 thousand children were identified who rested by the water without adult supervision. This is the most common cause of child tragedies - neglect on the part of parents, " the press service quotes the words of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov.

In his opinion, "wild" beaches also pose a threat to security.

"It is impossible to swim on them: the bottom relief is changeable, the water area has not been surveyed and cleared of foreign objects. All this often leads to tragedies," Kurenkov explained.
