OREANDA-NEWS  Egypt, Russia and Thailand have become the most popular holiday destinations among Russians during the New Year holidays. This is stated in the results of a study of the Travelata tour booking service and the Rosgosstrakh insurance company.

"Egypt (29%), Russian regions (19%), Thailand (15%), Turkey and the UAE (14% each) are among the most popular New Year destinations among Russians," the experts said.

According to the study, the average cost of a New Year's trip to Egypt was 141 thousand rubles (last year - 111 thousand rubles), and the highest was the average check for a tour to Thailand - 231 thousand rubles. Among Russian destinations, St. Petersburg (11%) and several districts of Sochi enjoyed the greatest demand for New Year holidays: Imereti (23%), Adler (11%), Sochi Center (10%) and Krasnaya Polyana (9%). The average check for these tours ranged from 44 to 59 thousand rubles. The highest average cost - 120 thousand rubles - was marked for a tour to Krasnaya Polyana.

Most often, Russian tourists booked five- and four-star hotels during the New Year holidays - 30% and 32%, respectively. At the same time, a year earlier there were more vacationers in hotels of such categories (41% and 36%). Mostly Russians traveled in pairs (59%), alone (18%) and families with children (14%). The average duration of the New Year's tour was eight nights, and the booking depth was 32 days, experts said.

Russians on New Year's holidays most often sought medical care for insurance in connection with viral and colds (about 30% of applications), various injuries (22%) and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (about 10%), the study notes.
