OREANDA-NEWS   A special board of the Russian Emergencies Ministry will deliver 35 tons of humanitarian aid to Iran, which was affected by the earthquake on January 28. This was reported to TASS on Wednesday in the press service of the department.

"The IL-76 aircraft of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia took off from Zhukovsky Airport to deliver humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Iran. By order of the Government of the Russian Federation, humanitarian cargo with a total weight of 35 tons will be delivered. It includes everything necessary for the primary life support of citizens affected by the devastating earthquake that occurred on January 28 in the north-west of the country," the press service said.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations added that the cargo includes sugar, flour, vegetable oil, tents, warm blankets, stoves and a mobile power plant.

The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.9. The epicenter of the disaster was located 23 km southeast of the city of Hoi, where 175 thousand people live. The hearth lay at a depth of 43 km . According to the governor of the province of West Azerbaijan Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian, the number of victims has reached 1,167. According to the Secretary General of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Yakub Suleimani, about 7 thousand tents have been distributed to the victims, 30 temporary accommodation camps have been created, where people are given blankets, heaters and food packages.
