OREANDA-NEWS  One of the leaders of the unregistered Libertarian Party of Russia, Mikhail Svetov (entered in the register of foreign agents), is wanted under the article of the Criminal Code, it follows from the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In August, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against him on the rehabilitation of Nazism (Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Sources of the Russian state agencies TASS and RIA Novosti reported that the reason for the initiation of the case was the publication of a video in a Telegram chat in which Mr. Svetov sings a song in which the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) Stepan Bandera appears in a positive image. The Telegram channel "Caution, News" wrote that it was about the song "Ah, Bandera, the Ukrainian Apostle!", performed in 2021.

Later, the libertarian politician told RBC that for performing a song about Stepan Bandera, supporters of the Men's State movement (recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation) "wrote denunciations" against him a few years ago. He stated that the song is humorous in nature. "Even then, the course of this case was not given, because its absurdity was clear from the very beginning. But absurd times require even more absurd solutions," Mr. Svetov told the publication.

Mikhail Svetov is a politician and public figure, popularizer of right-wing libertarianism in Russia, author of the SVTV YouTube channel and the SVTV News online publication, which Roskomnadzor blocked on March 16, 2022. In November 2022, he was included by the Ministry of Justice in the list of foreign agents. He was twice fined 40 thousand rubles for the lack of marking of a foreign agent.
