OREANDA-NEWS The Russian military destroyed four American M777 artillery howitzers, from which Ukrainian militants fired at the Belgorod region. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov on Sunday, November 20.
"During the counter-battery struggle, the artillery division of the 40th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was defeated in the areas of the settlements of Volchansk and Gatyshche of the Kharkiv region, which fired at residential areas in the Belgorod region," the statement said.
He added that more than 10 militants were also killed.
Earlier in the day, it became known that the calculations of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) "Grad" of the artillery unit of the Airborne Troops of the Russian Federation destroyed four American M777 howitzers in a week. According to the serviceman, during the same period, the Polish self-propelled artillery installation "Crab", the German artillery installation, as well as the Buk air defense system and the Grad MLRS of the enemy were among the disabled equipment.
On November 19, missile strikes in the Shevchenko district of the city of Zaporozhye hit an ammunition depot of Ukrainian militants, as well as aircraft repair workshops on the territory of the Motor Sich plant. Also in the city of Zaporozhye, workshops of the Iskra research and production complex were destroyed, where components for the repair of Ukrainian multiple launch rocket systems and radar stations were produced.
On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
