OREANDA-NEWS The Russian national football team will meet with the Qatar team in a friendly match in September, the game will be played away, said Maxim Mitrofanov, Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFU).

At the end of May, the Russian Football Union (RFU) refused to hold the June training camp of the national team. Earlier, RFU President Alexander Dyukov said that the Russian national team is exploring the possibility of sparring with teams from Asia, Africa and Latin America.

"We discussed the issue of not getting together in the summer with coach Valery Karpin, Dyukov, the executive committee. We found two sparring partners, but they were ready to play only on the 20th (June). But that would be wrong, because some clubs are already gathering on the 22nd. We will play Qatar in September. We are looking for a second opponent," Mitrofanov told reporters.
