OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) called for a ban on advertising witchcraft, and the ideology of Satanism to be recognized as extremist. This proposal was made by the head of the patriarchal commission on family issues, protection of motherhood and childhood Fyodor Lukyanov, the radio station "Moscow Speaks" reports.

He explained that the ROC insists on including such terms as "family and child-hating" in the concept of "destructive ideology". According to the clergyman, now the ideology of Satanism is based "on hatred of the human person and life as such."

"That's why Satanists are focused on promoting abortion. This terrible ideology has already penetrated into Russia, we see interviews and publications of people belonging to this subculture. The propaganda of abortion and ritual sacrifices, suicidal and destructive ideology are combined with human and child-hating," the priest said during a speech at the Public Chamber of Russia.

Speaking about the ban on advertising witchcraft, Lukyanov cited the example of the United Nations (UN), which also raises this topic.

Earlier, Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate for Church-Society and Media Relations, spoke about Halloween in Russia. In his opinion, in order to build a society based on the values of life, respect and love, the holiday should not be in a public space.
