OREANDA-NEWS 80 percent of Russians annually put up a Christmas tree and decorate their house for the New Year. The corresponding share was named by the TASS news agency with reference to a joint study of the Cooper store and restaurant delivery service and the OnIn research company.
More than 2.5 thousand people from different cities of the country participated in the survey in question. The authors of the study noted that more than half of those citizens who decorate their homes for the New Year are happy to participate in this process. "Another quarter (25 percent) entrust this task to family members, and 18 percent join this tradition from time to time, according to their mood. Thus, in most families, the custom of decorating the Christmas tree together remains today," the message says. In 2025, 57 percent of Russians plan to purchase or have already purchased new Christmas decorations, and another 41 percent plan to decorate their homes with existing ones.
As for choosing a Christmas tree, 64 percent of respondents prefer artificial trees, while 20 percent prefer live ones. Another 12 percent of respondents purchase table decorations, bouquets or wreaths of fir branches to decorate their homes for the holiday.
Earlier, Russians were urged to remove electric garlands from live Christmas trees.
