The parliamentarians also noted that parents' participation in such events is not a formality, but "an important support that creates a sense of confidence in the child at the beginning of a new learning phase."
According to the authors of the initiative, its implementation will help strengthen family ties and increase parents' involvement in the educational process, the publication says.
This is not the first time that deputies have expressed the idea of making September 1 a day off, although it had not been put into the form of a bill before. So, in August last year, State Duma Deputy Speaker Boris Chernyshov proposed making September 1 a day off for citizens whose children are in elementary school, and at the beginning of this month, Deputy Dmitry Gusev called for a paid day off for all parents of schoolchildren.
