OREANDA-NEWS  The cancellation of discounts and bonuses on marketplaces may eventually have a negative impact on the standard of living of Russians. This warning was addressed to the head of the Central Bank (CB), Elvira Nabiullina, by the head of the State Duma faction "Fair Russia — For Truth" (SRDP), Sergei Mironov, his words are quoted by the newspaper Izvestia.

The leader of the parliamentary faction noted that the ban on setting different prices for goods depending on the payment method on marketplaces would lead to reduced competition in the domestic market. Administrative pressure should not be exerted unilaterally, Mironov stressed. Otherwise, he warned, such steps would hit ordinary consumers who are accustomed to purchasing everyday goods at such sites at favorable prices.

Against this background, Mironov called on the leadership of the Central Bank to analyze in detail all possible consequences of the cancellation of discounts on marketplaces. If the regulator reveals serious violations of healthy competition in this scenario, it is not worth following the lead of the largest financial organizations, the deputy believes. It is necessary to avoid solutions in which rapidly growing marketplace banks would be suppressed, depriving consumers of benefits, and market participants and the economy of incentives for innovation and development, stated Mironov.
