OREANDA-NEWS  Heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Admiral Nakhimov of project 1144.The Orlan 2M is currently receiving state-of-the-art weapons and will return to service soon. The condition of the ship was revealed by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President, Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, in an interview with Arguments and Facts.

"For example, the most powerful cruisers of the Orlan project. A few weeks ago, the reactors on one of them, Admiral Nakhimov, were restarted, the cruiser is currently receiving the most modern weapons and will soon return to service, where it will serve together with its brother, Peter the Great," he said.

The Admiral Nakhimov cruiser was commissioned in 1988, and in 1999 the ship was put into repair with modernization, which started in 2013. The upgraded Admiral Nakhimov will receive ten universal firing systems, accommodating eight Kalibr-NK or Onyx cruise missiles each.
