OREANDA-NEWS Ukrainian drones struck in the immediate vicinity of the power units of the Zaporizhia NPP, the press service of the station reported.

"Laboratory and household building No. 2 was attacked by two UAVs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The building is located about 200 meters from power units No. 4 and No. 5," the publication on the Maks platform says.

The press service added that the enemy had twice tried to attack the radioactive waste recycling building. There are no casualties or threats to nuclear safety. The radiation background at the nuclear power plant is normal.

For his part, Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev said that over the past two weeks, the Ukrainian military has intensified attacks on the Zaporizhia thermal power plant, on which the safety of the nuclear power plant depends.

In addition, he said that on Sunday night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a car with food for the station staff, and the driver, an employee of the station, was killed.

The nuclear power plant is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River, next to the Energy Depot. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, with six power units with a capacity of one gigawatt each. In October 2022, it came under the control of Russian specialists. Generation at the power units was stopped in September 2022, and since April 2024 they have been in cold shutdown mode.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces regularly shell facilities on the territory of the station, as well as its satellite city of Energodar. As emphasized at the NPP, such attacks pose a direct threat and demonstrate disregard for the principles of nuclear safety.

As stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova, the IAEA continues to evade the admission of Kiev's guilt in the attacks on the station and the murders of its employees.
