OREANDA-NEWS Russia is increasing its influence in Latin America due to the incompetence of the policy of the administration of US President Joe Biden. This is proved by the visit of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to a number of countries in the region, The American Thinker reports.

"While the Biden administration is abandoning the Monroe doctrine, Russia and China are doing everything possible to increase their influence in Latin America," the journalists believe.

According to the newspaper, the anti-American sentiments of Latin American countries led by leftist politicians will help Moscow establish strong cooperation with them. In turn, the Biden administration's "flirting" with Cuba and Venezuela led to the opposite effect. These countries have become closer to Russia, and this, due to the geographical proximity of these states to the United States, knocks the ground out from under Washington's feet.

Despite the loud congratulations from the American leader to the new president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, he began to cooperate with the BRICS countries, and now he is preparing to receive Sergey Lavrov. A similar situation, observers say, is developing in Mexico, which is headed by a left-wing anti-American government. The country is ready to cooperate with Russia, despite the fact that the United States is their major trading partner.

Thus, Russia is winning diplomatic victories in Latin America and displacing the States from there, the journalists summarize.

Earlier it was reported that Sergey Lavrov will make a trip to Latin American countries from April 17 to 21. As part of the tour, the diplomat will visit Brazil, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba. Meetings with the top leadership of these states and negotiations with the foreign ministers are planned.

The Foreign Minister is heading to the region with an urgent agenda aimed at strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries in political, trade, economic, educational and other spheres.
