OREANDA-NEWS  In the period between 1990 and 2021, the volume of harmful greenhouse gas emissions in Russia decreased. This is reported by Interfax with reference to Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko.

According to her, during the specified period, the volume of emissions decreased by more than 40 percent. "We continue to work within the framework of the Montreal Protocol aimed at protecting the ozone layer. According to the national cadastre for 2021, Russia managed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by almost 46% compared to the 1990 base," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Abramchenko also criticized the proposal of Western countries to limit the extraction of raw materials as a solution to the problem of plastic pollution. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in such a situation, it is necessary to solve the issue of waste that is hardly processed.

Earlier, Victoria Abramchenko urged Russians not to buy new jeans for the sake of ecology. The politician stated that too much water resources are consumed in the production of this wardrobe item.
