OREANDA-NEWS  Several new lakes have been opened in the Murmansk region, one of which they wanted to name in memory of the deputy of the State Duma and the legendary polar explorer Arthur Chilingarov. This is reported by TASS.

Dmitry Belov, one of the researchers who mapped the lake, acting head of the Clean Arctic — Vostok—77 expedition, made a proposal to give the newly discovered geographical object a similar name. As he said, scientists have already appealed to the authorities of the region, and if they give permission, the application will be sent to the Federal Register.

"On the Kola Peninsula, we have discovered several scientifically interesting lakes that will have to be explored for many years. They are nameless. Today we proposed to the leadership of the Murmansk region to give one of them the name Arthur," the scientist said.
