OREANDA-NEWS  Vietnam's largest airline Vietnam Airlines chooses Moscow airport to resume flights, Vedomosti reported, citing a source. The estimated timing of the resumption of flights is unknown. Currently, there are no direct flights from Moscow to the cities of Vietnam.

According to the newspaper, representatives of Vietnam Airlines visited Moscow in late summer and early autumn and held talks with Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo. One of the sources clarified that commercial offers were made to the carrier, and now the company is choosing the most suitable option.

An interlocutor close to the Federal Air Transport Agency said that the agency has no confidence that Vietnam Airlines will resume flights to Russia in the near future. He added that Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are considered among the possible departure cities from the Vietnamese side.

Vietnam Airlines flew to Moscow before the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 from Hanoi. In January 2022, the company resumed flights to Moscow and operated one flight a week from Hanoi, but stopped flights after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

Before the pandemic, Vietnam Airlines flew to Sheremetyevo from Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, from 2003 to 2019, Vietnam Airlines flew to Domodedovo from Hanoi.
