OREANDA-NEWS The issue of unification of the transport system of Russia and Belarus is of particular relevance and importance today, when Western countries are trying to isolate both countries. This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin at the beginning of the session of the assembly on Monday.

"The issue that we will discuss with you today concerns the creation of a unified transport system. This is stipulated by the treaty of the Union State. This issue is of particular importance due to the West's attempts to isolate Russia and Belarus from foreign markets and transport links with other countries," Volodin stressed.

He added that the session of the Parliamentary Assembly is being held in the Vitebsk region, "which, due to its geographical location, plays the role of an important transport hub." In addition, Volodin recalled, the ministers of transport of both countries will address the parliamentarians. "We are grateful to them for finding the opportunity to take part in the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly. I think that this will allow us to develop proposals that will form the basis of legislative decisions already taken in the future within the framework of harmonization and preparation of model laws," Volodin said, stressing that this is exactly what "the parliament of the Union State should deal with."
