OREANDA-NEWS  Microsoft is not going to return to Russia yet, but is trying to offset the damage from leaving the Russian market by allowing Windows downloads for Russian users, Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group, shared his opinion with RIA Novosti.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Izvestia newspaper wrote that Microsoft had opened access to Windows installation to users from Russia.

"Microsoft is not going to return to Russia, because at the moment it is impossible because of the sanctions regime. The company is rapidly losing the Russian market, it is very important for them to make and make efforts to slow down this decline, to reduce it to the maximum values... This is an attempt to offset the damage that the company has in Russia today," Murtazin said.

According to the expert, the fact is that blocking updates pushes people to look for alternative ways to use the company's products. Earlier, at the end of September, Microsoft restricted the possibility for Russian users to upgrade their computers to the latest version of the operating system - Windows 11.
