OREANDA-NEWS. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a regular briefing for journalists, said that British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss should apologize to the peoples of Russia and Britain for absurd statements and spreading lies about Russia's "invasion" of Ukraine.

“The head of the British Foreign Office is obliged to apologize for the spread of lies, and she is obliged to apologize to the people of Russia, to the people of Ukraine and the people of Britain,” she said.

According to Zakharova, the British minister should also apologize "to those media that considered her statements to be true."

“Of course, it makes no sense to discuss in detail the statements of Elizabeth Truss simply because they are absurd,” the diplomat noted. “There doesn’t even smell of logic there,” the representative of the Russian foreign ministry added.

Zakharova stressed that the head of the British Foreign Office "remains true to herself" and uses "the British favorite tactic of" stuffing "anti-Russian fakes into the information space in the style of" high-like ".

In recent months, there have been statements in the West and Kiev in particular about Russia's allegedly impending "invasion" of Ukraine. In turn, the Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans for an attack, and reports from Western media and officials about the preparation of an attack are called unfounded and untrue.

The day before, talks were held between the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Great Britain. During the meeting, Truss demanded the withdrawal of Russian troops from the border with Ukraine. Lavrov, following the results of the negotiations, said that he was disappointed that a conversation between a mute and a deaf person was obtained.
