OREANDA-NEWS. Fox has set new release dates for a few of its major upcoming films.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has marked November 2, 2018 and February 14, 2019 as the dates for two upcoming Marvel films, and set December 21, 2018 as the date for an upcoming film from James Cameron’s production company Lightstorm Entertainment.

While Fox didn’t reveal titles, the December 2018 film is almost certainly the sequel to Avatar, which Cameron has said in the past would debut in 2018. Cameron has also said in the past that three more Avatar sequels will follow Avatar 2 in 2020, 2022, and 2023.

As for Marvel, the two new dates join two previously-added spots for Marvel films, March 2, 2018 and June 29, 2018, one of which will likely be the sequel to Deadpool, which scored a new director earlier this month. Fox’s Marvel rights include Fantastic Four and the X-Men series and spinoffs, including the upcoming New Mutants movie. Earlier this week, reports indicated that the X-Men series "will be reconfigured" in future films.

In addition to adding dates, Fox has also removed an untitled Marvel film from its calendar that was set to debut on October 6, 2017. That date has been speculated to be reserved for Gambit for quite some time, but that film has suffered multiple production delays, so it’s likely been moved further down the road. In its place, Fox has moved Kingsman: The Golden Circle to October 6, 2017, back a few months from its original date of June 16.

In other Fox scheduling news, yesterday the studio also announced the release date for Alien: Covenant, which is set to arrive on May 19, 2017.
