OREANDA-NEWS About 1.2 million tourists from Russia visited Egypt in 2023, Russian Ambassador to Cairo Georgy Borisenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti on the eve of Diplomatic Worker's Day, celebrated on February 10.
Earlier, Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Isa said that a record 14.9 million foreign tourists visited the country in 2023.
"According to preliminary estimates, as far as we know, about 1.2 million Russian citizens visited Egypt last year. These are not record numbers. The record was set in 2014, when 3.3 million Russian citizens came to Egypt," Borisenko said.
The Ambassador noted that Russia is working with Egypt to overcome the problems hindering the increase in tourist flow.
