OREANDA-NEWS The popular Disney channel will stop broadcasting in Russia from December 14. This was announced on Friday, December 2, according to Mash.

As the publication became known, the reason for this decision was anti-Russian sanctions and the withdrawal of rights to cartoons and TV series. "Due to the departure of large companies and payment systems, it has become more difficult to purchase our favorite cartoons and TV series. They will not have time to buy the license — it is a very short time, and it is too late to reissue the documents," the publication says.

According to Mash, a new channel called "The Sun" will take Disney's place on the air. It will broadcast children's content.

The Walt Disney Company Corporation in March announced the suspension of work in Russia due to the situation in Ukraine. It was clarified that the decision will affect the licensing of content and products, the activities of the Disney Cruise Line, the work of the magazine and tours from National Geographic, the production of local content and the operation of linear channels. At the same time, the corporation indicated that the suspension of some activities in the country may take additional time.
