In St. Petersburg, the former Landrin chocolate factory is recognized as a monument

OREANDA-NEWS In St. Petersburg, the former building of the Georg Landrin chocolate factory has been recognized as a monument of regional significance, the website of the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments (KGIOP) reports.
"By order of the KGIOP, the Building of the G.M. Landrin Chocolate Factory (9 Rimsky-Korsakov Avenue, letter A) is included in the unified state register as an object of cultural heritage of regional significance," the message says.
The building was built in 1876-1878 by the architect August Poirot in eclectic techniques using neo-Gothic motifs.
Merchant Georg (Fedor) Landrin opened his first confectionery production in 1848, and subsequently created a successful enterprise for the production and trade of Montpensier. It lasted until 1917, and after it was nationalized and existed under various names under the Soviet Union.
"The confectionery factory in the building was located until the 1990s. (...) The perimeter building of the complex has been preserved to date without significant changes," the KGIOP noted.
