OREANDA-NEWS  77 percent of Russian tourists would like to visit China for various purposes, according to a survey by MTS Travel hotel booking service.

According to the study, which was attended by more than 1,000 people over the age of 18, 18 percent reported that they had already visited China, and 40 percent of them – more than once. Such significant figures are explained by the high proportion of travelers from the regions of the Far East, where trips to China are traditionally more affordable.
86 percent of those who would like to visit the country plan to do so for tourist purposes. At the same time, a third of those who wanted to specify that shopping is important to them, and every fourth would go to taste traditional Chinese cuisine. Another 14 percent of those who want to go to China are interested in local medicine, and seven are interested in wholesale purchases (several answers were acceptable). Among the destinations that attract Russians the most are Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong. About a third, 31 percent of respondents, are ready to go to border cities and visa-free territories. This direction is especially in demand among residents of the Far Eastern Federal District, more than half of whom have visited China before.

Despite the simplicity of organizing a trip to China for the Far Eastern Federal District, 61 percent of respondents would like to use the help of a travel agent.

In Russia as a whole, 29 percent of respondents want to plan a trip to China on their own, and 71 percent expect to buy a tour. For the majority of respondents, trips to China that had already been made were quite long – 32 percent of Russians came to the country for a week. But residents of the Far East, who have privileges in crossing borders, often went to China for the weekend (36 percent).
