OREANDA-NEWS Russian tourists began to leave the Thai resort city of Pattaya en masse, which is considered the most popular destination for domestic travelers. This is reported by the local edition of Pattaya Mail.

The number of Russian tourists in Pattaya has decreased by 80 percent. The article states that the reason for this may be that the local Utapao airport has stopped accepting direct flights from major Russian cities, including Moscow, Vladivostok and Yekaterinburg. According to the publication, in February and March, about six thousand Russians arrived in Pattaya, most of whom flew to Utapao. "Although now there are flights from Moscow to Bangkok once a day, most Russians arriving in Pattaya now transit through Dubai," the authors of the material report.

In January, the Thai authorities recorded an increase in the number of crimes against tourists on the beaches and in hotels in Pattaya. In this regard, the tourist police began patrolling dangerous places, such as Walking Street, South Pattaya and Beach Road, every day from nine in the evening to three in the morning to prevent crimes against travelers.
