OREANDA-NEWS   Almost 18 million people visited Moscow in 2022, which is almost a million more than in 2021, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in his personal blog.

"Despite all the difficulties and problems, the past year has brought good results for the Moscow hospitality industry. The tourist flow has reached 17.9 million guests. One million more people than in 2021. And a decent 71 percent of the tourist flow compared to the record-breaking 2019," the mayor wrote.

According to him, domestic tourism continues to be the driver of the industry's development – more than 90 percent of guests come to Moscow from other Russian regions. Most often they are residents of St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai, Vladimir, Tula and Nizhny Novgorod regions. The mayor noted that on average, a trip to the capital takes five days, a tourist spends about 37.3 thousand rubles on a trip. Every third Russian traveler comes alone, every fifth – in a couple or with children. Most of them plan to visit Moscow in advance, 78 percent of the guests will organize a trip on their own.
