OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation plans to support at least 140 domestic films this year, compared to 154 supported last year, Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova said.
"In 2025, the production of 154 films was supported: 50 feature films, 63 non-fiction films and 41 animated works. Last year, the total Russian rental fees reached 50.7 billion rubles. Ten domestic films have crossed the threshold of a billion rubles of box office receipts. This year, at least 140 domestic films will be supported," Lyubimova said on Tuesday at the ministry's board meeting dedicated to the results of 2025.
She noted that the Ministry pays special attention to the development of cinematography.
"We regularly conduct selections to support the production of feature films, films for children and youth, documentaries and animations. It is important that all submitted projects must comply with the priority themes of state financial support for film production for the relevant year, approved by the Ministry of Culture, as well as the goals and objectives of state policy to preserve and strengthen traditional values," said the head of the Ministry of Culture.
Lyubimova recalled that "at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, the Outpost documentary film development centers were opened by the Cinema Foundation in 2024."
"Their goal is to revive the best traditions of Russian documentary cinematography, as well as to create military-patriotic films on the subject of war. Every year, with the support of the Outpost centers, 20 documentaries will be created and 500 students will be trained," Lyubimova said.
She specified that last year the centers held nine series of master classes for more than 90 documentarians.
"Currently, work is already underway to create the Outpost documentary film center in Sevastopol on the basis of the Novy Chersonesos property museum and temple complex. I would also like to remind you that such centers have already been opened in the LPR, the DPR, and Zaporizhia," Lyubimova said.
