OREANDA-NEWS  A squad of rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and climbers from Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics raised the Victory Banner on Elbrus on the 78th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the press service of the GUMCHS of the Russian Federation for Kabardino-Balkaria reported.

"Today, the Victory Banner was raised to the highest peak in Europe at a height of 5642 meters. The honorable mission was carried out by rescuers of the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue squad of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and climbers from the LPR and DPR," the message says.

It is noted that the ascent, which was hampered by strong wind, fog and snowfall, was made by a detachment of 18 people, thereby expressing respect for the fallen and living heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
