OREANDA-NEWS. November 03, 2009. The good news came from the cotton plantations of Mary Velayat. Following tenant farmers of Yoloten Etrap cotton growers in Murgab Etrap reported on the fulfillment of their contractual obligations. They delivered over 36,500 tons of ‘white gold’ to the receiving points of the country.

Over 21,500 hectares were sown with this valuable industrial crop of middle staple cotton varieties. It should be noted that the most part of this year’s harvest is grown in the Oguzkhan tract of lands. Almost all of 18 local farmers associations met the contractual obligations. Cotton growers in Murgab Etrap are planning to harvest 1,500 tons of ‘white gold’ more and deliver 38,000 tons of cotton to the receiving points of the country.

The cotton growers’ achievement is a worthy response to the unceasing concern of the Turkmen leader – the initiator of the fundamental reform in the agro-industry sector, for rural workers, development of cotton growing industry and agricultural sector.

The high pace of the cotton picking campaign is maintained in Mary Velayat. Every day and hour cotton growers try to gather cotton till the last boll. During these days agricultural workers in the region are also engaged in the sowing winter crops and other seasonal agricultural work including land treatment activities.
