OREANDA-NEWS. September 9, 2011. The 24th Moscow International Book Fair opened at the All-Russia Exhibition Centre. The State Publishing Service of Turkmenistan is represented at the international forum along with 1500 participants from 57 countries.

The major aim of the Moscow Fair is to strengthen and broaden cultural and business international relations, identify the ways and conditions for export, import and bilingual translation and popularize and promote best foreign editions in Russia and the Russian authors abroad. According to the organizational committee, over 200,000 book lovers visit the Moscow Fair each year. This year emphasis is put on translation and adoption of innovative technologies. The programme of the book forum includes over 500 sectoral conferences, roundtables and seminars.

The presentation of the travelling exhibition on the Cultural Heritage of the CIS States took place on the first day of the international forum to mark the Year of Historical and Cultural Heritage declared in 2011 in the CIS states. The exposition includes books and albums on cultural and historical wealth of Turkmenistan. In future the exhibition organized by the Russian Book Union with the support of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, will travel to Baku, Kiev, Yerevan and Minsk.

Turkmen printing workers, who participate in the Moscow International Book Fair for the third time this year present over a hundred of high quality belles-lettres, educational and children’s literature publications and periodicals.

The ceremony of awarding the winners of the VIII CIS International Contest Art of Book will take place within the framework of the Moscow International Book Fair on September 9. Among the contenders in the Book for Children and Youth nomination is the illustrated book “White-winged Dream of Revival” published by the Turkmen State Publication Service.
