Best Buy launches pilot program to give your home a tech makeover
OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2016. You've been able to call Best Buy and its Geek Squad team to tune up your tech since the two partnered up back in 2002, but now the electronics retailer is testing out a new in-home consultation service that will bring expert advisors into your home for a tech makeover.
The Best Buy In-Home Advisor's job is to drop by your home to get a lay of your land, answer any questions you have about hooking up your tech products, and explain the benefits of potential upgrades to your various devices, including your wireless Internet, home theater set-up, connected devices, and economic efficiency.
Afterward, you'll be provided with a customized plan that includes product availability relative to your local Best Buy store and a price breakdown.
The service is free to use as long as you live in participating areas: right now Best Buy is using Atlanta, San Antonio, and Austin to gauge interest, with a full rollout that could potentially follow.
If you don't live in those places (or even if you do) and still have questions about technology for the home, be sure to check out CNET Smart Home, our living lab for the connected home. You can get started by watching the video introduction below:
