OREANDA-NEWS. In January-September 2007, Commercial Seaport of Nikolayev handled 5.339 million tonnes (+22.5%, year-on-year). In the reported period, transit doubled to 2.421 million tonnes, export fell by 8% to 2.514 million tonnes, transit – by 1.3%, to 589,300 tonnes. In September 2007, the company’s throughput totaled 721,100 tonnes. In 2006, Commercial Seaport of Nikolayevincreased its throughput by 14.8% - to 6.381 million tonnes including 3.072 million tonnes of transit (+27.3%), 2.286 million tonnes of transit (+20%).

Commercial Seaport of Nikolayev specializes in transshipment of grain, potassium fertilizers, coal, ore, timber and metal. It has 11 berths excluding 3 berths under construction. The port covers the territory of 94 hectares, its harbor waters - 225 hectares, the berths are 10.5 meters deep, railway line is 24.6 meters long, approach canal is 10.5 meters deep. The port has 36 cranes and 89 autoloaders (1.5 ton – to 25 ton). The port was founded in 1862.
