Ukraine Plans to Launch High-Speed Train from Kyiv to Moscow
OREANDA-NEWS. April 03, 2008. The Cabinet of Ministers has plans to initiate launching of a high-speed passenger train plying between Kyiv and Moscow, according to Transport and Communications Minister Yosyp Vinskyi.
As he said, the Government wants to discuss four priority positions with Russia: launching of a high-speed passenger train from Kyiv to Moscow, a transport passage across the Kerch strait, automobile highways from Moscow to Simferopol and Kyiv, joint container transportations from Russia to Southern Europe via Chop.
The Ukrainian side plans to propose Russia decreasing the travel time of the Kyiv-Moscow passenger train from 12 to 9 hours by reducing the number of stops and simplifying customs and border procedures.
Before UEFA Euro 2012, the Transport and Communications Ministry plans to launch high-speed passenger trains from Kyiv to Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Lviv (the cities hosting the championship matches).
