OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2008. Lietuvos Draudimas supports these “Lithuanian Nobel Prize” awards for the second year in a row, presenting Partnership Advancement Award which is granted for successful cooperation in implementation of the most progressive technologies and novelties in practice and for successful application of the bravest experiments in business, reported the press-centre of Lietuvos Draudimas.

“It is a great honor for our company to award people who form modern, strong and progressive image of Lithuania by actually performing and not by mere words or strategies. Successful union of science and business is especially important for such a small country as Lithuania. We do not have natural resources, the sun and the sea do not spoil us all year round, therefore the union of science and business should become the driving power, which will lead Lithuania ahead”, - Kestutis Serpytis, CEO emphasized the meaning of the awards.

Professor habilitated doctor Rymantas Jonas Kazys received the Partnership Advancement Award this year. The honourable award was given to the professor for the measurement of ultrasound and development of the diagnostic technology as well as the breakthrough to European scientific investigations and application areas.

By awarding this prize the Laureate’s merits were evaluated in deepening the possibilities of ultrasound practical usage as well as his personality being a proactive inventor and scientist. National Advancement Awards Committee, which assesses the works submitted for the prizes, stated that professor R. J. Kazys shows an excellent example of multi-partnership constantly cooperating both with Lithuanian medics, electronics and food industry companies as well as foreign capital companies. The ideas realized by the scientist are confirmed by seven patents in USA, Canada, Europe and Sweden.

Science Advancement Award was granted to academician professor habilitated Dr. Juras Pozela and professor habilitated Dr. Arturas Zukauskas. The award to these scientists was given for the solid input in the development of semiconductor physics in Lithuania. For the first time Culture Advancement Award was granted to two prominent artists: to poet Justinas Marcinkevicius for the significant input in Lithuanian poetical culture and strengthening of the national identity and to the artistic director Eimuntas Nekrosius for the original interpretations of the foreign and Lithuanian classical creations.
