OREANDA-NEWS. August 08, 2008. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the negative trade balance of Moldova made 31.6% vs. 37.2% in January-June 2007 (except for Transnistrian region).

In I half of 2008, import exceeded export by 3.2 times. Thus, the volume of Moldovan export totaled USD 738.2 million, increasing by 23% as compared to the same period of the last year.

The volume of import to Moldova amounted to USD 2 billion 333.5 million, exceeding the performance of the same period of the last year by 44.5%.

Thus, export to CIS countries grew by 26.3% - up to USD 293.7 million. Deliveries of Moldovan products to EU countries increased by 25.7% - up to USD 381.2 million.

Import from CIS grew by 39,9% - up to USD 829.3 million, to EU – by 39.7% - up to USD 1 billion 29.6 million. Trade deficit with the EU states increased by 49.5% - up to USD 648.4 million and with CIS – by 48.7% - up to USD 535.6 million.

The largest trade deficit was registered with Ukraine (\\\$ 326.4 million), Russia (USD 156.7 million) , Romania (USD 144 million), Germany (USD 138.5 million), China (USD 136.8 million), Turkey (USD 97.9 million), Italy (USD 72 million) and Belarus (USD 63 million).
