OREANDA-NEWS. On September 15, 2008 Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) has announced its participation in KIOGE 2008, the largest oil and gas exhibition and conference in the Caspian region and Central Asia which will be held in Almaty from 7-10 October, reported the press-centre of KPO.

KPO will showcase its achievements over the last decade at its exhibition located in Pavillion 9C of the Atakent Expo Centre. During this period KPO has constructed and commissioned new facilities which utilise leading production and hydrocarbon processing technology. This has been done in accordance with the highest safety and environmental protection standards.

In addition, KPO will be represented at the KIOGE Oil and Gas Job Fair located in Pavilion 11. Graduates from higher education institutions and experienced professionals can meet with KPO staff recruitment consultants and explore career opportunities at Karachaganak.

KPO General Director Roger Fox said: “KPO supports Kazakhstan’s development aims – to become one of the 50 most competitive economics in the world - recognising the central role oil and gas development will play in achieving this goal”.

Karachaganak is one of the largest international projects in Kazakhstan, with total investment exceeding USD5.5 billion. With recoverable reserves of nine billion barrels of liquids and 48 trillion cubic feet of gas, Karachaganak is one of the world’s largest reservoirs as well as Kazakhstan’s largest gas producing field accounting for some 49% of the country’s total gas production and around 18% of total liquids production.

Karachaganak not only represents vast resources, its development has also brought enormous benefits to Kazakhstan and the communities within the West Kazakhstan Oblast. KPO supports many social and infrastructure projects, along with training and development, and local content initiatives.

KIOGE is organised by Iteca (Kazakhstan) and ITE (UK). Since its launch, KIOGE has been officially supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan and KazMunaiGas National Company JSC.
