OREANDA-NEWS  Ukraine may agree to a deal during negotiations with Russia and the United States in Geneva. This was stated by Konstantin Blokhin, a leading researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an American political scientist, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"I admit that maybe these negotiations will be crowned with success, but the question is whether peace will be long and stable," he said.

According to the expert, it is possible to repeat the scenario of the Minsk agreements, in which Europe and Ukraine will take time out to modernize the military-industrial complex (MIC).

Blokhin added that US President Donald Trump wants to get out of the conflict in Ukraine, "saving face." According to the political scientist, this can be done by making a profit.

"He can't make a specific profit from Ukraine, so this lost profit needs to be transformed into political prestige. That is, to be the main peacemaker. Plus, it is desirable, of course, to normalize relations with Russia," the expert explained.

According to him, Europe and Ukraine are striving to conclude a "fragile peace" and wait for the "new Biden" to come to power in the United States.

Earlier, CNN correspondent Haley Britzky reported that the United States remains optimistic about the negotiations in Geneva and hopes for a resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
