OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2009. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, this was stipulated by the decrease in prices for non-foodstuffs by 1,3% and the increase in tariffs for services by 1.2%.

As compared to November 2008, the prices for foodstuffs have not changed. The decrease in prices was registered for the main food products: rice and vegetable oil - 6.1%, sugar - 2.2%, eggs - 1.1%, fresh fruit - 0,5%, potatoes, meat and meat products - 0,3%.

Among non-foodstuffs the prices have decreased for transportation fuel - 14.5%, liquefied gas - 12.8%, coal - 3,9%, medicines - 0.6%, construction materials - 0.4% , as well as TVs and phones. Under decision of Soroca and Ungheni mayoralties, tariffs for mini buses services were reduced by 2,3%.

At the same time, increase of tariffs for central heating - by 32.2%, as well as for hotel and recreation facilities – by 2.4% was registered. The prices have also increased for fresh vegetables - 3.8% (tomatoes -15.2% and cucumbers - 11,3%), bee honey - 2.2%, milk - 1.6%, cheese- 1.2% as well as for children's clothing and hats - 4.4% and winter boots - 1.6%.

Since the beginning of 2008 (December 2008 as compared to December 2007) the inflation rate amounted to 7.3%.
